even though（但不用even although）可以用来表示despite the fact that（尽管…）的意思，
even if表示whether or not（是否）的意思。试比较：
Even though Tom doesn’t speak Spanish, I think he should still visit Madrid.
(=Despite the fact that he doesn’t speak Spanish)
i.e. the speaker knows that Tom doesn’t speak Spanish
Even if Tom doesn’t speak Spanish, I think he should still visit Madrid.
(=Whether or not he speaks Spanish)
i.e. the speaker doesn’t know definitely whether Tom speaks Spanish or not

even if用于表示真实或非真实条件
注意even if和even though之间的区别：
Even if he loves her, he can’t marry her. 即使他爱她，他也不娶她。
Even though he loves her, he can’t marry her. 尽管他爱她，但是他不能娶她。
even if = ‘I don’t know whether he loves her…’（我并不知道他是否爱她…）
even though = ‘I know he loves her, but in spite of this…’（我知道他爱她，但尽管如此…）

even if用于表示条件和对照。

比较even if和even though。
Even if the rumour is untrue, people will still believe it. (The rumour may or may not be untrue.)
即使传闻是假的，人们仍然会相信。
Even though the rumour is untrue, people will still believe it. (The rumour is untrue.)
尽管传闻是假的，人们仍然会相信。
在汉语中，即使，表示假设的让步，即使所表示的条件，可以是尚未实现的事情，也可以是与既成事实相反的事情。
而虽然表示承认一事情为事实，但另一件事情并不因此而成立。
从中可见：即使——可以是真实的，也可以是非真实的。
even though可以引导让步状语从句。
even if可以引导让步状语从句+非真实条件句。

They wouldn’t give me a job, even if I had all the qualifications.
他们是不会给我一份工作的，即使这些条件我都具备。
这就是说，在引导让步从句的时候even though与even if有时可以换用。
对于其中的区别差异点可以这样记忆：
even though理解为although的强调形式：尽管，虽然。
even if中的if可以引导非真实条件从句，那么even if也同此：即使，即便是。
